Product B-R-E-A-K Down
Today we are going to be looking at an extremely simple supplement that can provide amazing results. A combination of two minerals and a vitamin. Any guesses?
Zinc – Magnesium – B6
To do this we will be looking at each ingredient individually, followed by the benefits they can provide as a whole!
Zinc: Zinc is an essential mineral with antioxidant properties. Needed in small amounts daily, zinc is responsible for stimulating the activity of enzymes in the body. These enzymes are crucial for many biochemical reactions. One of the functions that it has been found to play a large role in is protein synthesis, a crucial step for muscle recovery and growth.
Zinc may also help benefit hormonal health, as it has an important role in the production of hormones such as testosterone. These results will only occur if the user is currently zinc deficient. When used in high doses zinc can also act as a aromatase inhibitor and reduce estrogen levels.
To top it off, zinc helps maintain the health of cells within the cardiovascular system, while lowering inflammation and oxidative stress.
Signs that you may be deficient: Digestive problems, low immunity, poor concentration and memory, nerve dysfunction, changes in appetite, including cravings for sweet or salty foods.
Low Dose: 5-10mg per day
High Dose: 25-45mg per day – only recommended if you are at risk for zinc deficiency
Magnesium: Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in numerous reactions in the body. It is important for healthy function of your cardiovascular system, metabolism and bone health.
A magnesium deficiency may result in impaired carbohydrate metabolism, insulin resistance, high blood pressure and altered cardiovascular function.
1. Found that when supplementing 390mgs of magnesium per day for 25 days there was a increase in peak oxygen uptake and total work output during work capacity tests
2. Supplementing with magnesium resulted in a lower heart rate, increased oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide production
3. Supplementing with 8mgs of magnesium per kilogram of body weight per day, users experienced an increase in endurance performance and decreased oxygen consumption.
Signs that you may be deficient: Muscle cramps, twitches or tremors, excessive fatigue, irritability, lethargy, mood swings, depression, restless legs at night.
Dose Recommended: 200-400mg per day
Vitamin B6: B6 comes in three different natural forms, Pyridoxine, pyridoxamine and pyridoxal. Of these pyroxidine is going to be the most beneficial and should be used in most ZMA formulas. It works to transform amino acids into proteins, as well as help make over 50 different enzymes that assist with our bodies biological functions.
Other benefits of pyroxidine include strengthening your immune system, heart and management of depression.
